In the Circuit Court of Frederick County this afternoon, Mr. Charles R. McCann, for the past six years treasurer of Frederick County, tendered his resignation from that office, to take effect at once.
At the same time the court appointed Mr. Robert S. Smith to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. McCann’s resignation.
While the resignation of treasurer McCann came as a surprise, it was known among his friends for some time past that he contemplated the step. He had been offered and has accepted the general managership of the Winchester Cold Storage Corp. and will at once enter upon his new duties.
